Sold

Every summer I attend the Winnipeg Folk Festival with friends and as we sit and enjoy fabulous music (KD Lang was magical this year!)  I bring out my sharpies and I doodle on my friend's festival chairs. I drew poppies on Lisa's chair and Sharon said, 'you're hired! I need poppies for my sun room!'  So I covered a canvas with old dictionary pages,  some with doodled poppies. I used watercolors, Copic Markers and UV resistant Krylon to protect and poof, my first sale! So much fun and I'm happy with my work...

More projects completed

Yeah for Thrift stores!! Found this empty display tin (made in Portugal), a dictionary, some sheet music, a glass ornament and a vintage doily. The tree is half a dictionary, folded and decorated with vintage lace and beads and gem brads found at a dollar store. Sheet music and scrap booking paper  the back of the lantern, aged with distress inks. I'm very happy with the results and I'm tickled that I only spent $6 total!

Finishing Touches

The pages are done! I've gone back and tweaked things, added color and glued the last little bits down to prepare it for people handling it. Just need to complete the cover and send it on it's merry way to Brooklyn NY.  The procrastinator in me is very proud for following through with this project, sticking to a timeline and, gasp, even completing it early! I also found clarity as I looked at the past and realized how much of life I had not lived. And I see hope in my future as I continue to discover who I actually am. I no longer doubt my worth and I have experienced grace and joy. I am a story-teller at heart and the process of examining and journaling my 'Path through the Trees" has been a good portion of my healing. Thank you to my Papa, J & S, J & H and so many faithful friends who have all walked bits of the way with me or have been there all along. I am grateful. Truly, I am not alone.
